SKY BOXES
When considering which of the Sky boxes takes your fancy, you can choose from one of three excellent products: Sky Digibox; Sky Plus; and, Sky Plus HD. The first of the Sky boxes, the standard, offers superb digital quality pictures and sound, as well as access to a wide range of interactive services and entertainment. It has a built-in, user-friendly on-screen TV guide which you can use to plan viewing up to seven days ahead and create on-screen reminders. And it also boasts comprehensive parental control functions. You can also use it to order box office movies, as well as sports and other events. The digital picture is received from the satellite by a minidish, is then decoded by the Sky boxes, and then sent to the TV. The second of the Sky boxes offers you complete flexibility when viewing programmes and movies. Called Sky Plus, it can record up to 40 hours of television programmes, or automatically record entire selected series. It can easily pause and rewind live TV, and what's more, you can control its workings via your mobile phone with the Remote Record facility, which can also be operated online via sky.com. It is also linked to Sky Anytime TV, which provides entertainment on demand. The third of the Sky boxes is designed to enhance your viewing pleasure. Called the Sky Plus HD box, it offers the U.K.'s widest range of high definition channels (over 32), which boast four times the picture detail with vivid and vibrant colour. And the sounds not bad either, with superb quality Dolby® Digital 5.1 surround sound. And this box has all the Sky + features, with twice the storage capacity. And when it comes to high definition, Sky Movies offers 500 movies each week - including five brand new premieres - all uncut, uninterrupted and in unmissable HD quality. To purchase one of the Sky boxes, prices range from free to £99, with set-up prices from £15 to £60.
