SKY BOX CARD
The Sky Box Card is one of the most valuable cards you're going to have in the household and the great thing is, as it lives in your box, so there's little danger of losing it.
The viewing card provides great security by encrypting your personal information. It also lets you control the use of your Sky Box, as well as giving you access to billing information specific to your account.
And when it comes down to it, your Sky Box Card and your Personal Identification Number (PIN) are two parts of your Sky subscription package.
Your Sky Box Card and PIN allow you to choose which TV shows are watched in your home. They can also stop your children from viewing unsuitable programmes, and control how many Sky Box Office movies and events are ordered.
Your PIN allows access to your Sky account, helping you control what the household watches and how much they spend doing so. In short, it puts you as the subscriber in the driving seat. For example, you might want to set up age rating filters which, for selected programmes, restrict access to specific channels completely - or say from 8pm - and can also remove adult channels from the TV listings, meaning you remove the fear of your children accidentally coming across channels they should not be viewing. You can also stop recorded programmes from being viewed, or restrict access to them after an agreed time in the evening.
The PIN will have to be used when you want to use such features and by using the Parental control, you can also prevent your children, or other members of the household, spending too much on say movies, or special events via Sky Box Online.
And should you wish to change your PIN, you have two methods, either via your Sky Box, or online via www.sky.com/mysky.
To change PIN using your Sky box, it has to be connected to a telephone line and you have to use your remote. You press services, highlight Parental Controls using the Up and Down arrows, and then press Select. You enter your PIN, then Highlight Change PIN and press select. You can then enter a new four-digit PIN, but remember, don't choose a PIN beginning with zero. Then to finish off, highlight Save New Settings and press Select. Then press Sky to return to normal viewing.
To change PIN online, sign into www.sky.com/mysky. Within the Billing Centre section of the site, follow the Reset PIN link. You then choose a new four-digit PIN and enter the number in the two boxes to confirm your new PIN.
So, don't forget, your Sky Box Card and your PIN are vital to your full enjoyment of your satellite television package.
